The brief from the owner of Reesle was for a no-nonsense expedition schooner, a super strong and super safe design that would be more of a ship than a yacht. She therefore has a reinforced hull, six watertight bulkheads, a full-length bulwark and an oversized equipment package that includes twin engines, twin gensets and double variable pitch propellers. Her schooner rig with in-mast furling is exceptionally sturdy; hydraulic captive winches and a relatively high freeboard add to the explorer feel. Reesle has two cockpits; one forward, that’s ideal for socializing and one aft which contains a large wheelhouse and an extensive array of navcom equipment.
